Our lead time for your custom-built furniture is typically 12-16 weeks. Porter, TX is located within the Houston metropolitan area in Montgomery County. Due to the fact that it is an unincorporated community, Porter has no official boundaries. Instead, its boundaries are unofficially determined by the zip code of its single post office.

At the 2010 census, its population was estimated to be 25,769. The median household income was determined to be $73,873. The area is served by the New Caney Independent School District.

The area was first settled by ranchers during the 1860s.  The East and West Texas Railroad brought many more settlers to the area during the 1870s and 1880s. James Porter was among the early settlers to the area and likely is responsible for the town’s name. He operated a sawmill in the area.

When the post office was established in 1892, the town was referred to as Porters. This name came as a likely response to an earlier event when the post office had denied a petition to name the town Porter’s Mill.
