Custom-made furniture that complements your style, space, and lifestyle beautifully.
Forget settling for what’s on the showroom floor. All of our furniture is made-to-order to perfectly suit your unique style, home, and lifestyle.
Our design consultants take the time to ask all the right questions to ensure that every piece you order is not only functional, comfortable, and beautiful but also exactly what you want.
Our team inspects every piece before it goes out for delivery, and we aren’t happy until you are. If something isn’t right, we’ll make it right–period.
In 2001, our home–and everything in it–was destroyed by a tropical storm and flood. We had to completely start over, but that ending led to an unexpected beginning.
While searching for quality, handcrafted, American-made furniture, we discovered Amish furniture. We were blown away by the superior quality and craftsmanship, so much so that in 2006, we opened our very own store: The Amish Craftsman.
We are a family-owned retail store selling solid wood, made-to-order custom furniture from Amish builders with family businesses of their own.
Our furniture is never mass-produced or assembled in a factory. Instead, it’s handcrafted by Amish families who put their heart and soul into the craft of furniture making. That’s something a machine simply can’t replicate.
We believe custom furniture should be impeccably constructed, built to last, and exactly what you want.
That’s why we take the time to get to know you, your home, and your lifestyle and then get to work designing the perfect pieces for you and your family. And, trust us, we really do have something for everyone.
We’ll evaluate your needs, priorities, and lifestyle and then sketch potential layouts for you-at no cost or obligation.
Together we’ll choose the style, colors, and designs that work with both your existing furnishings and new vision.
Your choice of wood and glass types, finishes, and hardware are what transform our furniture into your unique pieces.
Our Happiness Guarantee means if something isn’t right, we’ll make it right. It’s that simple. Really.

“Anthony in sales assisted with a custom cabinet to match a display cabinet I purchased. He was able to work directly with the craftsman and build a tv credenza to my specific measurements and at a price that was reasonable. Excellent experience all around.” -Harry
“Sandra was friendly, knowledgeable, and patient helping us select our new dining table and chairs. Never felt any pressure or rushed to make a decision. Once we decided on the furniture pieces, wood type, and stain, we realized the build time on the chairs was about 10-14 weeks longer than the table. Sandra and Eddie worked together, called the builder, and Sandra texted me on her day off to let me know the builder of the chairs could match the timeline for the table. Incredible customer service, now we just wait patiently for our delivery!” -Fallon
“I have been a customer of The Amish Craftsman for several years now. I have purchased a dining room table and chairs, sideboard, kitchen table and chairs, rocking chair and ottoman, king-size adjustable bed and most recently a bookcase from them. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly and take plenty of time with you to ensure you get the stain, upholstery and features you want. You can be guaranteed that the product you purchase from them will be an heirloom piece for a lifetime and more.” -Christopher
“Beautiful and unique furniture that lasts a lifetime. Fits perfectly with our “rustic modern” style and once we experienced what the Amish Craftsman has to offer, no other furniture could compare. Salesman Eddie was extremely helpful and informative without being at all pushy. We are thrilled with our purchase!” -Audrey
The Amish Craftsman offers financing options with approved credit through Wells Fargo.
The process is simple. First, you pick your design – either from our showroom or from one of our catalogues. Next, you pick your wood and your stain. Lastly, we finalize your order and send it to the builder who begins construction. Then it’s just a matter of time before you receive your custom made Amish furniture. Most importantly, we will walk with you every step of the way. We know this decision is an important one, and we want to help you find your best fit!
Our lead time for your custom-built furniture is typically 12-16 weeks. We know that you are anxious to start enjoying your new Amish furniture and we make every effort to get your furniture to you as soon as possible. However, quality does take some time. Your handcrafted furniture is not built until you place the order. Each piece is built for you and built to last.
We stand behind every piece of furniture that we sell. If there is a craftsmanship issue, we take care of it. It’s that simple. Craftsmanship defects simply aren’t what usually goes wrong.
Most of the time, the problem instead stems from “accidents.” Things like my toddler wrote on my leather sofa, my housekeeper banged my table leg with the vacuum, and it’s dented.
For moments like this, (which we call life), we offer Guardsman Complete Furniture Protection.
When you invest in new furniture like this, you want to keep it looking great for as long as possible. This furniture protection plan gives you total peace of mind. Whether your furniture is fabric, leather, or wood, all damage and stains are covered by the Guardsman Gold Complete Furniture Plan.
There are no loopholes or “gotchas,” AND if you invest in the protection and don’t end up using it in 5 years, call us, and you will get your money back in the form of an in-store credit.
Our craftsmen build in red oak, quartersawn white oak, cherry, hickory, walnut, brown maple, and hard maple. All hardwoods are commercially managed and sustainably harvested from the United States and Canada.
Yes, our Amish carpenters build our furniture out of solid-milled hardwoods. Come see for yourself – this is how furniture should be built!
Richmond, TX is a city west of Houston along the Brazos River. As of 2019, the city’s population is made up of 12,578 residents. The city’s website has this to say about Richmond:
“Richmond, the county seat of Fort Bend County, is on the Brazos River fifteen miles southwest of Houston. The city’s transportation links include U.S. highways 90A and 59, the Southern Pacific Railroad, and the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway. In early 1822 a group of twelve to fifteen men led by William W. Little camped in the vicinity of the present city and were soon followed by other members of Stephen F. Austin’s Old Three Hundred. A log fort built at the bend in the Brazos River became the nucleus of a settlement, which came to be known as Fort Bend, or the “Fort Settlement.”
Houstnnewcomerguides.com says:
Richmond is home to some of the most successful and established master-planned communities in the Houston region, including Pecan Grove Plantation, opened in 1977. Newer and still-active communities include Long Meadow Farms and Sweetgrass – the latter designed for residents ages 55 and up. Offering a lifestyle that encourages health, wellness and sustainability, Harvest Green occupies 1,300 acres in Richmond with more than 30 acres of lakes and waterways, 280 acres of greenbelts and open space, 50 acres of parkland, walkable trails system and central roundabout.
According to Wikipedia, colonists from Austin arrived in the area in 1822 when they traveled up the Brazos River and stopped close to where present-day Richmond is. Upon arrival, they built a fort and called it “Fort Bend.” The town was incorporated into the Republic of Texas in 1837 and named Richmond after Richmond, England.
