Generic or mass produced? No, thank you.

In 2001, our home–and everything in it–was destroyed by a tropical storm and flood. We had to completely start over, but that ending led to an unexpected beginning.

While searching for quality, handcrafted, American-made furniture, we discovered Amish furniture. We were blown away by the superior quality and craftsmanship, so much so that in 2006, we opened our very own store: The Amish Craftsman.

We are a family-owned retail store selling solid wood, made-to-order custom furniture from Amish builders with family businesses of their own.

Our furniture is never mass-produced or assembled in a factory. Instead, it’s handcrafted by Amish families who put their heart and soul into the craft of furniture making. That’s something a machine simply can’t replicate.

Customers Review Our Montgomery Furniture

“The Amish Craftsman offered a really great furniture-buying experience. Sandra did a great job at walking us through the process, and gave us the exact prices for the sofa, chair, and ottomans with the upholstery finishes we were interested in. It was a much more personalized experience than going to a typical furniture store and we are excited to own some furniture that will hopefully last many years.” -Gregory

“Great shopping with Sandra today. We found a beautiful dining set for my Dad and he will have it delivered on Monday.  Wonderful customer service!  Thank you for making this a great experience for all of us!” -Patricia

“The entire staff at the Amish Craftsman is so knowledgeable and professional and the craftsmanship of their products is so much better than big box stores. Kim, Steve and Hal are so helpful and patient. Their customer service is top-notch, from the home visit to measure our space and to look at the fabrics under our light, to the Guardsman furniture protection. This is my second time ordering from them and am a forever customer!” -Michelle

“We ordered our bedroom set from this store. Stephanie was friendly and really helpful. We really appreciate her decorating ideas. We highly recommend shopping here.” -Mehry

Montgomery Furniture FAQs

The process is simple. First, you pick your design – either from our showroom or from one of our catalogues. Next, you pick your wood and your stain. Lastly, we finalize your order and send it to the builder who begins construction. Then it’s just a matter of time before you receive your custom made Amish furniture. Most importantly, we will walk with you every step of the way. We know this decision is an important one, and we want to help you find your best fit!

Our lead time for your custom-built furniture is typically 12-16 weeks. We know that you are anxious to start enjoying your new Amish furniture and we make every effort to get your furniture to you as soon as possible. However, quality does take some time. Your handcrafted furniture is not built until you place the order. Each piece is built for you and built to last.

We stand behind every piece of furniture that we sell. If there is a craftsmanship issue, we take care of it. It’s that simple. Craftsmanship defects simply aren’t what usually goes wrong.

Most of the time, the problem instead stems from “accidents.” Things like my toddler wrote on my leather sofa, my housekeeper banged my table leg with the vacuum, and it’s dented.

For moments like this, (which we call life), we offer Guardsman Complete Furniture Protection.

When you invest in new furniture like this, you want to keep it looking great for as long as possible. This furniture protection plan gives you total peace of mind. Whether your furniture is fabric, leather, or wood, all damage and stains are covered by the Guardsman Gold Complete Furniture Plan.

There are no loopholes or “gotchas,” AND if you invest in the protection and don’t end up using it in 5 years, call us, and you will get your money back in the form of an in-store credit.

Our craftsmen build in red oak, quartersawn white oak, cherry, hickory, walnut, brown maple, and hard maple. All hardwoods are commercially managed and sustainably harvested from the United States and Canada.

Yes, our Amish carpenters build our furniture out of solid-milled hardwoods. Come see for yourself – this is how furniture should be built!

Montgomery, TX is a city just west of Lake Conroe and north of Houston. As of the 2010 census the city’s population is 621 residents. The city’s website has this to say about Montgomery:

“As one of the oldest towns in Texas, Montgomery began as a trading post in 1826 and was charted in 1837.  Montgomery was the first county seat of Montgomery County and was the third county formed under the Republic of Texas.  It is also recognized as the birthplace of the Texas Lone Star Flag.  Montgomery is located at the junction of Texas 105 and FM 149, near the southwestern edge of Sam Houston National Forest in western Montgomery County.  The center of town is 15 miles west of Conroe and 50 miles northwest of Houston.  We encourage visitors and residents alike to explore the rich history of Montgomery and the surrounding area.”

Arrivalguides.com says:

The Lone Star Flag of Texas is one of the most recognizable state flags in the United States. Now travelers have the chance to explore its birthplace. Montgomery, Texas, is rife with state history, with July of 2012 marking its 175th anniversary. Founded around the Lake Creek Settlement in 1837, Montgomery now finds itself surrounding Lake Conroe. The lake serves as a focal point for much of its attraction: visitors take advantage of the friendly waters for boating, fishing, swimming, and other fun activities year-round.

Wikipedia indicates that the town was likely named after Lemuel P. Montgomery who was a major in the U.S. Army during the Creek War. He died on the front lines of the Battle of Horseshoe Blend. His death was witnessed by Sam Houston, the President of the Republic of Texas. John Wyatt Moody, one of the founders of Montgomery, and his partner W.W. Shepperd used the connection that Sam Houston had with Lemuel Montgomery to advocate for creating Montgomery County and the town of Montgomery as the county seat.
