Some of the dining room seating options we offer include...
Mission chairs are an example of timeless design that will last for generations. Our Mission chairs can be made in a variety of woods and stains, and each chair is handcrafted by our Amish builders. Mission chairs have clean, classic lines and are designed with your comfort in mind. Our Mission chairs allow the beauty of the solid wood to come through.
Made with precision joints to ensure solid structural integrity, our craftsmen also add substantial corner blocks for greater stability. A lot of time goes into the lumbar support and seat construction to give you a comfortable fit.
All chairs are available with wood, fabric or leather seats and as side chairs or arm chairs.
A lot of the more traditional chair designs fall under the Traditional and Shaker style category. The Ladderback, Bowback, Shaker, Spindle, Windsor and Traditional chairs at the Amish Craftsman offer a more traditional, informal look for dining rooms and kitchens.
The Ladderback chairs have backs with horizontal slats. A lot of them have curved backs to make quite a comfortable chair. Depending on the wood and the stain, Ladderbacks can blend in with a shaker or transitional styles quite well.
The Bowbacks and Windsor chairs at The Amish Craftsman are classic chairs with design that dates back to the 1700’s. Bowbacks are popular in kitchens and provide comfortable simple seating. Bowback and Windsor chairs are made by hand, using a process called steam-bending. The solid-milled hardwood pieces are bent and assembled to form a curved back, all while maintaining the integrity of the chair’s construction.
More traditional chairs, like our wheat back, can easily complement more formal or even French country décor. All our traditional and shaker style chairs are made with solid-milled hardwoods. Our builders use techniques such as corner blocks and precision joints to ensure stability and longevity. Quality materials and solid craftsmanship ensure these chairs will last for generations. Most models come standard with a wood seat, but some designs can be upholstered in either leather or fabric.
Whatever chair you choose, you can know was built using high quality Amish woodworking techniques.
Although the Amish that hand craft our furniture work with traditional tools and methods, don’t let that fool you! Not all of their designs are traditional. In fact, some of our Amish chairs can be quite contemporary.
Our Transitional and Versatile line of dining chairs offers a wide variety of designs that would fit any modern dining area, along with the quality and craftsmanship always provided by The Amish Craftsman. The contemporary chairs we offer have clean lines and smooth surfaces – with minimal adornment. Either very light or very dark stains are popular with contemporary chairs.
Our builders use a combination of lumbar support and seat construction to ensure comfort, and can upholster many of the seats with fabric or leather.
Benches are a good way to add additional (and sturdy) seating to your dining room table. They add an informal element to your dining room or kitchen. Benches are perfect for family gatherings and can be tucked away under the table to add additional room when not in use.
Our solid wood Amish benches can be solid topped or even built with leaves to expand when your table does. A good rule of thumb is to size your bench about a foot less than your table. And be sure to account for the true clearance between the legs - don’t just measure from the table top.
All our leg and trestle tables have coordinating benches. Benches can be legs or trestles and can be built with thicker seats and hand-planing/distressing options to match any table you choose. Benches are an excellent addition to your dining room or kitchen - whether you need seating space for homework, crafting or carving the turkey! Benches are a great way to accommodate the needs of your family.
