Generic or mass produced? No, thank you.

In 2001, our home–and everything in it–was destroyed by a tropical storm and flood. We had to completely start over, but that ending led to an unexpected beginning.

While searching for quality, handcrafted, American-made furniture, we discovered Amish furniture. We were blown away by the superior quality and craftsmanship, so much so that in 2006, we opened our very own store: The Amish Craftsman.

We are a family-owned retail store selling solid wood, made-to-order custom furniture from Amish builders with family businesses of their own.

Our furniture is never mass-produced or assembled in a factory. Instead, it’s handcrafted by Amish families who put their heart and soul into the craft of furniture making. That’s something a machine simply can’t replicate.

Customers Review Our Tomball Furniture

“What an excellent experience with the Amish Craftsman.  1st time buying this way but great customer service and knowledge to steer me in the right direction.  The desk came out flawless and the craftsmanship is unreal. I would definitely buy again. The wait time is well worth it.” -Andrew

“The staff was great to work with, answering all our questions. We decided to come in on a Saturday and our rep was working with another customer. Another associate immediately came to our aid, to answer our questions. We choose to come back because of the complete care and customer service.” -Tessa

“Very good furniture and very good customer service. There is a lot more here than I typically think of when I think Amish. There are both modern and traditional styles. There are also pieces using fabric. There are many, many wood and finish choices. I bought one piece, and I liked it so much that I went back. I will go again.” -Lisa

“Sales personnel are very knowledgeable, attentive and helpful – they will work with what is available in-store to better understand your interests/style and share what builders/custom opportunities exist to meet your needs. High-quality furniture, the type that will last a lifetime –  even offer some modern designs that integrate metal legs, have two-tone colors, live walnut edge, etc. Very pleased with our overall experience and excited about our new furniture.” -Rich

Tomball Furniture FAQs

The process is simple. First, you pick your design – either from our showroom or from one of our catalogues. Next, you pick your wood and your stain. Lastly, we finalize your order and send it to the builder who begins construction. Then it’s just a matter of time before you receive your custom made Amish furniture. Most importantly, we will walk with you every step of the way. We know this decision is an important one, and we want to help you find your best fit!

Our lead time for your custom-built furniture is typically 12-16 weeks. We know that you are anxious to start enjoying your new Amish furniture and we make every effort to get your furniture to you as soon as possible. However, quality does take some time. Your handcrafted furniture is not built until you place the order. Each piece is built for you and built to last.

We stand behind every piece of furniture that we sell. If there is a craftsmanship issue, we take care of it. It’s that simple. Craftsmanship defects simply aren’t what usually goes wrong.

Most of the time, the problem instead stems from “accidents.” Things like my toddler wrote on my leather sofa, my housekeeper banged my table leg with the vacuum, and it’s dented.

For moments like this, (which we call life), we offer Guardsman Complete Furniture Protection.

When you invest in new furniture like this, you want to keep it looking great for as long as possible. This furniture protection plan gives you total peace of mind. Whether your furniture is fabric, leather, or wood, all damage and stains are covered by the Guardsman Gold Complete Furniture Plan.

There are no loopholes or “gotchas,” AND if you invest in the protection and don’t end up using it in 5 years, call us, and you will get your money back in the form of an in-store credit.

Our craftsmen build in red oak, quartersawn white oak, cherry, hickory, walnut, brown maple, and hard maple. All hardwoods are commercially managed and sustainably harvested from the United States and Canada.

Yes, our Amish carpenters build our furniture out of solid-milled hardwoods. Come see for yourself – this is how furniture should be built!

The City of Tomball writes about the history of Tomball, TX:

The original settlers to the area now called Tomball began arriving from Europe in the mid-1800s filled [with] dreams, hope for a better life, and a desire for true freedom in a new home.

These pioneers were pleased to find the thick, lush forests around Spring Creek to be much like the Black Forest of Germany and prime property for a soon-to-come lumber industry. They also found the rich soil throughout the area to be perfect for farming and livestock.

[The town] was named Peck, but… on December 2, 1907 at the now historic downtown depot, Peck was renamed Tomball in honor of the man responsible for routing the railroad and its operations through the small town . . . his name was Thomas Ball…

On May 27th, 1933 the Humble Oil Company struck oil southwest of town earning Tomball the nationally recognized nickname of “Oiltown USA”. Humble Oil Company, now known as Exxon, and more than 20 other energy companies worked the fields around the City for many years producing more than 100 million barrels of oil and 316 billion cubic feet of natural gas.
