We get a lot of questions from our clients, not only about where our furniture is built but also about the builders themselves, and many people are shocked to learn that our furniture doesn’t come from a big factory. Instead, every piece is handcrafted by highly-skilled Amish craftsmen who, just like us, are running small businesses. Often, their shops are adjacent to their homes, and most have fewer than 10 employees, which makes the level of craftsmanship and quality even more impressive.
Eleven years ago, Steve and I started Meet the Builder for two reasons. We wanted our customers to have a fun opportunity to connect with the craftsmen and learn more about their culture and traditions. And we wanted our builders to have a chance to come to Houston (it’s not every day the Amish come to Texas!) to interact with our customers and hear firsthand what they need and want from a design and functionality perspective. Some of our most popular new designs have resulted from this event!
We often hold our Meet the Builder event after the Expo, where we unveil our latest designs on the showroom floor, and the energy in the room is contagious! Our customers love visiting with our team and builders, and we get such a morale boost from them, which drives us to keep innovating to deliver the highest quality furniture we can.
At The Amish Craftsman, every sale we make is more than a transaction. It’s personal. We like to say we’re in the relationship-building business, one that starts with the craftsmen we’re fortunate to call our partners and ends with you, our valued clients.
We hope to see you Nov 10th and 11th for our Meet the Builder event!
