FAQ

How to Order and FAQ’s

The process is simple and we are here to help you every step of the way. First, you pick your design – either from our showroom or from our catalogs. Second, you pick your wood, stain and even your hardware. Lastly, we finalize your order and send it to the craftsman who begins construction. Then, it’s just a matter of time, usually about 12-16 weeks, before you receive your beautiful handmade Amish furniture that was built just for you!

CRAFTSMANSHIP, WOODS & STAINS

1. Is your furniture really built by the Amish?

Yes, it is really handmade by the Amish! We work with about 30 different Amish builders located in northern Indiana and central Ohio. Each piece is custom ordered and handcrafted with a quality of workmanship rarely found in furniture today.

2. Is this really solid wood?

Yes, our furniture is made of solid milled hardwoods. Come see for yourself – this is how furniture should be built!

3. What woods do you build in?

Our craftsmen build in red oak, quarter sawn white oak, cherry, hickory, walnut, brown maple and hard maple. All hardwoods are commercially managed and sustainably harvested from the United States and Canada.

4. What type of finish do you use? How durable is the finish?

All of our Amish furniture is finished by one Amish finish shop with a catalyzed varnish to keep each piece looking like new for years to come. This is the best available finish for wood furniture. Our finish has been extensively tested and has proven resistant to most household spills.

 5. What stains do you offer for the finish?

We have many stains (more than 20!) available for each of the woods. Our stain selection ranges from lighter natural colors to darker tones like java. Please see our woods and stains page for some examples of options, or browse our furniture to see examples.

Also, our stains are made using certified formulas. This means the stain colors are certified every year for color consistency and accuracy. While there can be variations in the wood, the stains are consistent.

ORDERING

6. How does the process work?

The process is simple. First, you pick your design – either from our showroom or from our catalogues. Next, you pick your wood and your stain. Lastly, we finalize your order and send it to the builder who begins construction. Then, it’s just a matter of time before you receive your custom made Amish furniture. Most importantly, we will walk with you every step of the way. We know this decision is an important one, and we want to help you find your best fit!

7. Do you have a catalogue that you can send me?

The best way to see what we have to offer is to come by the store. We have a showroom full of furniture and have pulled together a collection of catalogues from premier Amish builders. This web site is also a very good starting point. While we have made every effort to show a selection of the Amish furniture that we offer, our website does not portray all of the designs available. We invite you to visit our showroom to see the quality of our Amish furniture first hand! We are here to help you build the furniture of your dreams.

8. How long does it take for my furniture to be delivered?

Our lead time for your custom built furniture is 12-16 weeks. We know that you are anxious to start enjoying your new Amish furniture and we make every effort to get your furniture to you as soon as possible. However, quality does take some time. Your hand-crafted furniture is not built until you place your order. Each piece is built for you and built to last.

9. How much do I have to put down?

We ask for a 30% deposit for your custom made furniture. Please check out our new financing options.

10. Can I use my own fabric? What about hardware?

Yes, you are welcome to provide your own material for upholstery. We have hundreds of fabrics and leathers to choose from, but you can always provide your own. Same goes for hardware.

11. Can I bring in a drawing and have it built?

All of our furniture is custom made for you. However, we do not do complete one-of-a-kind custom pieces. In most cases, we can work with you to find a design that is similar to what you have in mind. We are here to help you through every step of the process. Remember, because this furniture is custom, we can make some changes to dimensions and design if needed.

DELIVERY & SHIPPING

12. Is shipping included? Can you ship outside of Houston?

Yes, our price includes shipping to our Houston warehouse. We offer delivery to the Greater Houston area as well as Central and Southeast Texas and Louisiana. Please call the store (713) 862-3444 for pricing and check our service areas.

13. Do you deliver?

Yes, we have a professional delivery team that takes pride in what they do! Our team runs an extremely tight ship! They are punctual and professional. Our team inspects each and every piece before delivery. We do not deliver anything to your home that we wouldn’t want in ours.

Our delivery charge starts at $99 for the Houston area. Arrangements may also be made for delivery to other areas. Please call the store at (713) 862-3444 for pricing.

14. Can I pick up my furniture?

We prefer to deliver your furniture to make sure that it arrives safe and sound. However, if you want to, you may pick up your furniture from our warehouse (not too far from the store). If you do decide to pick up, please come prepared. Your furniture doesn’t come boxed or wrapped. You will need to bring all the materials (i.e. moving blankets, tie-down straps and man-power) needed for transport. Also, we must warn you that solid wood furniture is extremely heavy and we can’t be responsible for any damage that may occur during loading or transport. We schedule most of our customer pick-ups by appointment on Saturday mornings. Once your furniture arrives, we will call you to schedule a convenient pick-up date and time.

A safe delivery is very important, and we have answered a few further questions here.

Yes! Of course! We offer a five year warranty on workmanship, materials and construction methods. If a defect is found, and the furniture has been taken care of (no dancing on tables please) we will repair the furniture at no cost. Keep in mind wood is a natural product and it can expand and contract with changes in humidity. As you can imagine, that happens here in Houston! It sounds crazy, but your furniture might change as the seasons do. If you are worried about something, please give us a call. If the furniture has been damaged due to an accident and you need help getting it fixed, we will do our very best to help you. After all, you are our customer and we want you to be happy! Certain things are not covered by our warranty (finish, fabrics, leathers, ball bearings and internal mechanisms on items like recliners). If you have questions about our warranty, feel free to contact us.”
