Essential Tips for Accessorizing Your Home

Accessories showcase the true essence of your home and are a wonderful way to display your style, personality, and interests. The Amish Craftsman Team shares tips on making the most of finishing touches in your home.

1.) Display Collections and Treasures

Do you have a collection of things that are special to you? From vintage cameras and heirloom china to a mix and match of treasures from your travels, it’s important to display things that are near and dear to your heart. Collections can be a stunning accessory in your home and, more importantly, a genuine reflection of you and your family.

You can easily integrate your collections into and onto various rooms in your home. Entertainment Centers are a must have for electronics, however, they are also a wonderful location for display. Other options include curios and dining room hutches.  Every piece of our handcrafted Amish furniture is designed and built with great attention to detail.

2.) Add Light and Visual Interest with Mirrors

Mirrors are most definitely not meant to be cordoned off in the bathroom or powder room. Use these reflective beauties as wall art to lighten and brighten your room. Whether you hang one mirror as a focal point or group a set of framed mirrors, they will reflect light and add visual interest in your space. Mirrors come in a wide variety of styles, shapes, and sizes, so you can customize your selection to your room’s personal design plans.

3.) Reading is Fundamental!

“A book is a gift you can open again and again.” Garrison Keillor

There’s something wonderful about curling up with a book in hand. With solid statement pieces, such as our Amish built bookcases, you’ll be able to display your favorite reads with style. Incorporate a single hardcover book or small stack of books to spark conversation on coffee and end tables.

4.) Let Your Personality, Style, and Interests Shine

Accessorizing your home is ultimately up to you, so add what makes you happy! Spruce up a media room or man-cave with sports memorabilia. Love the surf and sand? Incorporate your shell and beach glass collections. Choose items that are nostalgic or bring joy to you when you look at them. Avoid feeling pressured to fill your space all at once.

Design Tip: It’s important to find the right balance between “under accessorizing”, which creates a bland environment, and creating a cluttered space by “over accessorizing”.

Take time to step back and openly assess your space.
